Japanese multinational bank Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has acquired a 5.4 per cent stake in Northern Arc Capital Limited, a debt capital platform headquartered in Chennai. The corpus raised will help Northern Arc expand its operations and broaden its debt disbursal, thereby addressing the debt needs of new-age financial institutions across sectors such as consumer finance and fintech.
