Back in India, faster growth prospects in the clean energy sector is seen as a necessity, primarily due to an energy deficit and the surging demand forecast. Beside, India has pledged to reduce the emission intensity of its gross domestic product by 20-25 per cent by 2020 in comparison to the 2005 level, during the Copenhagen climate change negotiations. Foreign investors see an opportunity to participate in the sector’s transformation, by funding the creation of long-term clean energy assets.
